Venice is a beautiful town in Italy. More than 5, 000, 000 tourists(游客) visited Venice last year. Now over 30, 000 people visit it every day.

But most tourists stay there only for a few hours. They don’t really feel the atmosphere of Venice. They don’t follow the rules. They swim in the lagoons. They have picnics in wrong places.

Many tourists don’t want to get to know the town. Officials say they want to change that. From January 16, 2023, tourists will have to pay to get to the center of Venice. Street vendors(小贩) will sell fewer cheap plastic things to tourists. Officials also want artists in Venice to sell their products(产品).
