11岁男孩许下生日愿望 帮助社区困难人群

When Isaac Winfield, a child in Worcestershire, England, learned that his school wasn’t offering food bank services during the COVID-19 pandemic, he took action. Just 9 years old at the time, Isaac collected donations(捐赠) of food and other things in a greenhouse at his own home.

Isaac’s parents approved of his idea to help people in need by building a new shed(棚) in their yard to house the donations. The “Friends of Isaac Food Bank” has been working since 2020, and it’s open 24 hours a day for anyone who needs a little help.

As the cost of food and other things used in the home continues to rise, so did the needs of people in Isaac’s community. When his 11th birthday came, Isaac refused to ask for a gift for himself, asking instead for food bank donations. He just wanted to get as many donations in as possible to help as many people as he can.

Isaac and his family guess the need for food and other things used in the home gets stronger as the colder winter months arrive. The boy has asked for special donations to fight against the cold, such as warm clothing, shoes, and pet food.

His mother, Claire Winfield, says she’s not surprised by her son’s kindness towards others. “Isaac always likes helping others,” said the proud mom. “Anything he comes across he always wants to stop and help. I’m very lucky.”
