A two-year-old boy died after he shot himself inside the family's car with a gun.

Kaleb Ahles got the gun from the glove box while his parents were loading boxes into the car.

The child then turned the gun toward his chest and pulled the trigger. The boy's parents, Kevin Ahles and Christina Nigro, both 23, said they heard a loud bang and ran to the car.

Ms Nigro and another relative tried to save the child. But he was declared dead in the hospital. Several family members were helping the couple prepare for a move when the shooting happened.

The incident is a "tragic situation". The parents will not face criminal charges.

Kaleb's grandfather,also named Kevin Ahles, said, "A great little kid was killed today. That's all there to say."
