A 30-year-old dog in Portugal(葡萄牙) named Bobi has become the world’s oldest living dog and the oldest dog ever by Guinness World Records(吉尼斯世界记录). According to Guinness, Bobi was 30 years and 269 days old on February 4, 2023.
Bobi has lived his whole life in the village of Conqueiros with the Costa family. Costa, 38, was 8 years old when Bobi was born. So the two grew up together. Costa said that the 30-year-old dog is friendly and likes spending time with others. He also likes eating “human food” — which Costa puts into water, to make it light(清淡的).
It was a surprise for Costa to know Bobi took the titles of the world’s oldest living dog and the oldest dog. “I never thought of putting Bobi’s name on the list to break the record. Our animals have always lived for many years,” he said. Bobi’s mother, Gira, lived to age 18 and another one of their dogs, Chicote, lived to be 22.
Physical examinations for Bobi show that he is “doing well for his age”. However, because of his age, walking is difficult for Bobi and he is almost blind — so the dog rests more than he used to.
