Recently, people in Brittany, France were shocked by a wild duck. The duck seemed to lead a perfectly normal life though he was having a knife stuck in its neck.

People call the duck Donald. He has a red knife handle (柄) sticking out of the left side of his neck. What really stunned those who saw the wild duck was how unaffected (未受影响的) he seemed by the knife handle. He was swimming with other ducks and able to feed normally. People couldn’t believe that.

However, people worried that the knife could become a serious problem with time, so they decided to take it out. Because Donald was in excellent physical shape despite the knife handle, he was very difficult to catch. After days of attempts, on March 31, people succeeded in catching him. They sent him to the hospital. Doctors helped him take the red knife handle out. He is doing great now.

How did Donald get a knife stuck in his neck? A member of the League for the Protection of Birds said that it could not have happened by accident. Someone hurt the animal in the neck. Local authorities (地方当局) are now trying to find the bad person.
