A woman surnamed (姓) Fu posted photos of an egg on the Internet. The egg is a 20-year-old cooked egg. It is now fossilized (石化的) and looks like a ruby (红宝石).

When Fu was still a young girl in primary school, her mother cooked the egg for her to eat at school. The little girl put it into her schoolbag. But she forgot about it for three days. She thought it had gone bad. But she didn’t want to throw the egg away. So she put it on the top of their fridge. She completely forgot about it for a couple of months.

When Fu’s mother found the egg again, it had already changed its color to beautiful dark red. So Fu decided to keep it in a small jewelry box. As years passed, Fu moved out of her parents’ house and forgot about the egg. But recently, Fu’s mother found it while cleaning and showed it to her. The egg became more beautiful, like a real ruby.

The photos of the old egg quickly attracted people’s attention. It wasn’t long before hundreds of reporters started calling Fu about the special egg.   ▲   and others were wondering why. Fu didn’t have any answers. But she said it might have something to do with the cold, dry winter in her hometown. Experts are trying their best to find out the reasons.
