Hu Xialu, 24, manages a small store selling grain and oil in Gushan town, Yongkang city, East China's Zhejiang province. He lost both arms in an electrical accident when he was eight years old, but his disability never stopped him from pursuing a better life.
Hu successfully finished his primary and high school education and in 2009, he applied to the Beijing Professional Business Institute. However, considering his condition, the college rejected him.
Soon after, Hu decided to run his own business and started managing a store covering 30 square meters. Hu now does almost everything himself except for heavy delivery, with which his mother helps. "Without arms, I still have my legs to stand. No matter what difficulty you meet in life, you shouldn't give up," Hu said, adding that when he earns enough money, he plans to open a supermarket selling more products.
