A teenager who starved herself in an attempt to resemble her idol, Miranda Kerr. But her desire to look like Victoria's Secret models left her in hospital.

Christie, now 18, from New South Wales, Australia, was once a talented long-distance runner and competed in the state and Sydney regionals.

But eventually she became too weak to walk. Christie, a worker, said: "I was a big fan of Miranda Kerr and I like the fact that she was very tall and very slim. I loved her stomach.

She said: "I always wanted to be one of the Victoria's Secret models and I would watch their shows and read their books.

"I would read the magazines and what they would eat and their diet plans ."It made me feel like what I was doing was normal because other people were doing it. All that mattered was losing weight.

But by the time she was 16, Christie's weight had dropped to five stone, and she accepted she had a serious problem. Christie said: "I realized that I was smaller than Miranda. One moment I liked it and then I didn't like it at all.

Christie said: "I spent my 17th birthday in hospital because I was so weak. When I was sick I knew I wouldn't be able to achieve any of the things I wanted to do and that was my turning point - that was why I wanted to change.

"I just want to be healthy for the first time in my life and just live a happy life and eat when I'm hungry to actually nourish my body."
